“What do you need prayer for.” I thought he would say something like “I have a trial coming up.” The answer I got is “because I am a rapist.”
My heart asked, “Lord what are you doing to me here?”
“Get Casey to pray for him.” So, without filling Casey in, I asked him to pray for the man. As Casey prayed, the Lord said, “Ask him if He knows that Jesus died for him.” I didn’t want to ask, and I almost didn’t. When the man was about to walk away, his friend (the translator) looked at me and said, “you have a word of encouragment for him.”
“Seriously, Lord, Seriously.” So with that Casey and I shared with Him that Jesus died for Him, so that he could be free from his sin.We told him that if he wanted to be be free, he needed to pray to the Lord himself. So all on his own, he prayed to receive Jesus.
After talking to him more and encouraging him, one of the guards got everyones attention. She said that her bosses weren’t around, so she wanted to share encouragement from the Lord. After that she, led us in singing and dancing. We, World Racers and prisoners, danced around in a circle praising the Lord.
There was no heaviness, there was only freedom.
I sit humble and amazed that the Lord brought me to Botswana to share Jesus with the men that I didn’t want to even talk to.
