After a rough Thursday night
on Soi Lion, I would have been completely content to never walk down
that street again. But Lindsay had said that we had to go back.
Reluctance would be the politest way to phrase my sentiments.
out, we have an hour of worship to get us prepared for the two hours
that we spend on Bangla Road. During Friday night’s session, a
picture of a lioness flashed into my head. As the vision solidified,
the lioness morphed into a precious little kitten. Great. Lion it
would be that night.
with Lindsay and Stacy, we piled into the vans and headed back to
Patong. After helping an extremely inebriated Thai woman find a taxi
home, the three of us headed back to Soi Lion with the mission of
finding Lan* and making sure she was okay from the previous night.
The last we had seen of her was when we were on our way back to the
van, and she was on her way away from Soi Lion with a Canadian
tourist.
feeling much lighter than the night before, and it wasn’t two seconds
before the girls lining the road started grabbing our arms and
pulling us towards their bars. Rik, the woman who had tried flirting
with me the night before, recognized me and took my arm. I pulled
away, saying, “I need to stay with my friends!” before rejoining
the two in front of Lan’s bar. The hostess greeted us, and Lindsay
immediately asked if Lan was working that night. The hostess went to
the back of the bar, and came back with Lan right behind her. We
greeted her with hugs, and asked if she could bring out a game of
Connect Four so we could play with her.

Australians had taken three seats near us, and one was right across
the table from me. After Lan beat me for the fifth time straight,
she put the board between me and the Australian. Introductions were
made, and Greg asked what brought me to Thailand. Thanks for the
