First piece of good news: we’re officially off the technology ban.  We probably won’t have much internet in Uganda.  So it won’t really be that much different.

Next up, Sofia is in the Cairo airport right now after a long day of seeing the pyramids, the Sphinx, and the Cairo museum.  From here we’re heading to Nairobi, Kenya, and we’ll be staying there a few days while arranging transportation to Uganda.  Which brings me to point number three.
Sofia is spending the month of January in Kampala, Uganda, working in the slum areas and with child-head families (aka families whose parents have both passed away, leaving the oldest child as the head of the household).  We’ll be teaming up with Phoenix, which is actually made up of about half of the team formerly known as Petra, so I’m really excited to be reuniting with some old teammates and working alongside them for the month.
Keep us in your prayers as we’re preparing to head to a totally different environment, and please pray for our health.  We’re hitting malaria country hard, and we’re officially off tap water for the rest of the race.  Also keep my fundraising in your prayers as well.  I’ve still got $2340 to raise by February 1, and $3215 total by the end of the race.  I know God’s going to provide a way; he hasn’t let me down yet.
I’ll let you know when I learn to say “thank you” in Ugandan.
