For those of you reading after I’ve been MIA for the past two weeks, I have seven new blogs posted before this one.  I highly recommend reading them.  They’ve got pictures too!

After being actually out in the field for just over a month, I really feel like I’m being initiated into the World Race elite.

We had a team meeting last night, and I have good news and bad news.  Bad news: we are no longer going to Egypt or Jordan.  Apparently, it’s a logistical nightmare to get both squads around the Middle East without drawing lots of suspicious unwanted attention.  My heart’s a little bit broken, since I’ve been kind of obsessed with ancient Egypt since I was nine.

However, good news: we’re staying in Eastern Europe for another month.  And then we’re going to Turkey.  Did you get that?  WE’RE GOING TO TURKEY.  Ottoman Empire, home-of-Istanbul/Constantinople, real live country TURKEY.  I have no idea what’s in Turkey, but I’m psyched out of my mind.
As for what we’ll be doing in Eastern Europe, or where we’ll be…hah.  That’s a fantastic question.  I’ll let you know when I know.  And even then, that’s dubious and subject to change.  I can tell you that we’re leaving Viile Tecii on the 21st and heading to Brasov for the big World Race conference/reunion/debrief.  And then on the 27th we head to our month three location.

Next time you hear from me, I’ll be in Brasov.  Cheers.
