In the wake of my hard drive dysfunction, it’s been a struggle to find inspiration to write.  But I want to share a little nugget of joy with you all, since that’s the least I can do.

About a week or so ago, I was listening to the Indie Singer/Songwriter playlist (free from Facebook) on my iPod, when the song “Shine,” by Rosi Golan came on.  In general, I consider the playlist good background no-thinking-required music, but this particular song came on while the sun was shining and I was walking to the Pelham Metro-North station to hit Manhattan.  I would be lying if I said my walking didn’t turn into dancing at some points.  Even now when I listen to it, I always do a quick check to see if anyone’s around, and then twirl and skip for approximately 2.4 seconds.

It’s not a complicated metaphorical song.  It’s not a piece of lyrical ingenuity.  It’s a celebration of the simple things and of life’s potential and joy.

It’s raining here in New York today, but my soul is shining.  I hope yours is, too.
