The size of the average World Race team since it sent out the first group of young idealistic Christian adults ranges between 24 and 44.  The two most recent teams to be sent out, the October 2008 and January 2009 teams, each have 52 members.

According to the email I got from AIM last night, there are over 80 people committed to the August 2009 race.

Consequently, the folks at HQ in Gainesville have decided to divide the August team in half, forming J Squad and K Squad.  I’m on the K Squad.

I’m not surprised the team was split, but I will say that I was expecting it to happen during training camp in a few weeks instead of prior to it.  For the most part, very few of us have met each other, so the whole structuring was based on prayer from the staff and some educated guessing.  I don’t claim to understand the method behind the formation of the teams, but I was happy to see that the people I had started feeling connections with are, for the most part, on my team.  Part of me is sad that I won’t get to see or get to really know the 40-odd people who are on J Squad, but at the same time, I’m REALLY excited about K-Squad.

Change is gonna do me good.
