Momma, I’ve made it!
I’M A MONTH 11 WORLD RACER!
We #11n11 but as I’m sitting on my bunkbed in month 11, in one of the busiest cities in the world, on the opposite side of the globe as my home, I am reflecting back on how thankful and in awe of this year I am!
It’s been one wild ride.
And what I’ve got to say is;
God is good all the time and all the time God is good.
Can I get a Hallelujah and an Amen for that???
Whew, I have so many emotions about all of this, but I’ll talk more about that in an upcoming blog, for now, here is an overview of what I’m up to right now!
For my final month I’m partnered with an organization called The River located in Ho Chi Minh City.
The River aims to integrate two social classes inside the city. The affluent children, who’s parents are lawyers, surgeons, and government officials. And the impoverished children who without this organization may not have access to an education.
The socially elite children are taught life skills, such as team building, creative writing, and art. The funding from those classes finances the English courses for the children who otherwise may not have have access to a school or a safe place to go during the day.
Several days a week classes and activities are held that integrate the two groups. The kids otherwise would probably never cross paths, and now they’re all becoming pals!
I’m really proud to partner with the organization and these kids are really special to me and my teammates. It has been a great joy to watch them learn, open up to each other and simply have fun and be a kid. Many of their home and family situations don’t allow them much space to feel safe, encouraged and supported, much less the chance to enjoy childhood.
My last few days as a World Racer will be spent at Camp with all these wonderful kids we are spending the month with.
My teammates and I will be photographers and videographers, medical care, activity facilitators, and cabin mom’s to all the campers.
We’re currently fundraising our transportation, food, lodging and equipment fees to cover us being Camp counselors.
We are hoping to cover our own camp costs so the organization can afford to send more students.
If you feel led to support a great cause and send Team LOL to Camp for one final hoorah with the kids we’ve fallen in love with this month, click the link bellow!
Much love,
Elizabeth
