My dad traveled across the world to spend just a few days with me in Thailand. Those handful of days during PVT (Parent Vision Trip) were a clashing of two worlds.

My life in the states, with my family, routine life, and people who have been by my side as I’ve grown up.

And my life on the World Race where my friends became my family, where absolutely nothing is routine, and everyone was a stranger just a year ago.

It was challenging in a lot of ways. Getting a small glimpse of what entering back into America will be like was a bit nerve wracking.

Introducing my dad to my World Race best friends and some of the people I love the most in the world was an honor. I’m so proud of my Squad and everyone was surrounds me on the field, and I’m glad I could invite my dad into that.

Doing bar ministry with my dad was a privilege. I grew very passionate about the Thai women and the situation so many of them have found themselves caught in. It has been some of the most fruitful and empowering ministry I’ve done this entire year. I’m glad my dad was a small part of it with me.

Outside of meeting my friends and their families, and doing ministry, we had some time for hard conversations. Hard, but good. There was a new sense of openness and honesty that was refreshing to find within our conversations.

We even had time to enjoy the city of Chiang Mai together, we took a traditional Thai cooking class and had a blast!

My dad’s a great man, a great Father, he’s servant hearted, he’s clever, he’s Mr. fix it, he’s wise, he’s a man of high honor and integrity, he’s hiked across America (major cool points), he’s the reason I know Jesus.

I’m proud to be his daughter.

My heart,

Beth
