Yup that’s right, this was my first divine appointment, or at least one I recognized and called as such. Any who Kylee and I went to the Bagel Barn (super good,) to watch a free movie on Sunday, The Lady, a documentary of a woman in Burma fighting for the democratic independence for the people of Burma, a very good movie. Well as we’re leaving and passing the Central Plaza, we hear some Salsa music, and Kylee starts to shake it and so we went to see where all this booty shaking music was coming from
We stand next to a man and his kids, anyone who knows Kylee knows her heart for kids and just how good she is with them and how relational she is. Which I know is why God put us together at this time and this opportunity. Kylee asks the kids, boys of 9yrs, 7yrs, and a girl of 3yrs to play and dance and they at first shot her downL but then Kylee’s kindness and warmth won them over
I proceeded to make small talk with the dad, Carlos. I thought I was just killing time to let Kylee play with the kids. Uh yeah God had other plans, of course. The more we talk the more he opens up about his life and recent hardships. His wife just left him 4 days prior for another man. He is a young dad in his early 30’s. His heart is that of a Godly man and a man who God created to love on his kids. He told me about how his kids were taking their mom leaving. His 7yr old would get home from school to just cry and not eat and his baby girl had just started eating normal again the prior day. That broke my heart. Just knowing the pain those kids were feeling tugs at your heart. Although he’s going through so much pain and heart-ache and difficulties his eyes were still on God. He was faithful in not only his heart but also in his actions. He didn’t let this bring him down, he’s using God as his strength to get ahead and bring his kids ahead with him. He told me his favorite story in the bible was that of Job, a man who was tried again and again and didn’t lose faith in God. Carlos knows how God blessed Job for his obedience and how can he not have obedience if Job went through worse and never lost faith. Wow a faithful man. He was so thankful at meeting not only me but also Kylee who helped in his kids getting some distraction and joy for the night. I was thankful at meeting him! He blessed me with his faith, obedience, and his positivity even in this crappy situation. Thank You God for this Divine Opportunity to meet your son and have equal blessings in each other. Lord you always find ways to blow my mind and to remind me to always bring you praise in ALL situations.
