We are currently staying in San Vincente, El Salvador and let me just say that they really know how to have a church service here. We go to church almost everyday, which sounds like way too much to most of us in the U.S. If we are being honest with each other, it kind of sounds stressful and overwhelming to go to church that often, but it has been a great experience for us here. You walk into the building and you immediately sense the Spirit of God.  Then the music starts and you just jam with Jesus. It is seriously so much fun! Everyone is free to sing out to Him in whatever way they desire. We dance and sing for The Lord!

But more than the passionate music and the instant presence of The Spirit, is the immense sensation of love in the room. Love for God and for others, and even for us- the weird gringos coming to do mission work. We are essentially strangers to them, but they treat us as brothers and sisters without any hesitation. I think this is something that we are missing in the modern American church. We are welcoming to newcomers, but do they really feel as if they are our family? Do they feel like they can come in and share their struggles with us? Do they really sense God that quickly when they walk into our churches? Maybe they do, but there is something different about the church we go to here. I don’t even know how to explain it, but I am excited to be here and I never thought I would enjoy going to 2-hour church services everyday as much as I do. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me for the rest of my stay in El Salvador!
