Every couple of months on the World Race, the whole squad gets together for Debrief, which is a time to reconnect, reflect, and regroup. This month our T squad debrief was held in Brasov, Romania and after spending 2 intense months in Asia and traveling for over 40 hours straight, the down time in this quaint little town was like heaven. It was true culture shock to re-enter the western world. “Wait…you mean to tell me I can brush my teeth with the sink water? Flush the toilet? Eat whatever I want? What’s going on??” Needless to say it took a while to adjust. We stayed in a hostel run by the cutest Romanian woman named Sisi (pictured below) and in the course of just one day staying there I made friends with two girls from Spain, a Croatian, Romanian, and an Australian!

During debrief our squad coaches also fly in and spend the week with us. T squad was fortunate enough to be blessed with Seth and Karen Barnes, who have already poured into our lives in incredible ways. They started Adventures in Missions back in 1989 and since that time AIM has sent out over 80,000 people into the missions field…some for short as a week and others for a year or longer. They have years of wisdom and experience which they have shared with us when they come. We appreciate their youthful spirit as well!
Brasov is a wonderful place to visit, one day we were able to ride a cable car up the mountain, as well as sample the local pastry shops and markets. We had fun exploring and getting to know each other better as a squad.
We got to spend more time with our team as well as our squad leaders, the AMAZING Noe & Hollis. One afternoon we had a Girls/Guys Day. The men took off skiing and the girls played games likes charades, drank hot cocoa, and made lunch together. We had SO much fun telling stories and making fools ourselves 🙂
On Adventure Day we got the chance to take a trip through Transylvania, visiting Bran Castle (home of Dracula) and the Rasnov Citadel, where I was brutally attacked by a man with a sword. (Thankfully, I am fine). Overall I’d say our first Debrief was a memorable and magical week!
