So I need to apologize to everyone for letting so much time go between blogs! Between worries about what I could post from here and not taking time to post, I’ve gone almost a full month without a post. I am going to try to fix that in the next couple of days. Our ministry is completed for the month and we are spending a couple of days in the Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, before heading to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam November 3rd.
On Malaysia and our ministry
We spent the majority of the month serving in in small town in the center of Malaysia. Malaysia is a very Islamic country and while there are other religions here that are allowed to exist, it can be very tough to be a Christian in many areas. It is also illegal to speak about Christianity with certain Malaysian ethnic groups here. Malaysia is made up of four different ethnic groups. Malay Malaysians, Indian Malaysians, Chinese Malaysians, and Indigenous Malaysians. Because we are not from the area and it is hard far us to differentiate the Malays that you can speak to about Christianity and those that you can't, our ministry host here has asked us not to directly speak to anyone about Christianity. Since we are not directly speaking to people about Christianity here we strive to show Christ love to the people here by our actions.
Our actual ministry for this month has been teaching English two days a week, Friday and Saturdays. There are currently seven classes being taught. Each class is two hours long. They ages and skill level range from 5 to 19/beginner to advanced. I teach a beginner class of students around five years old on Saturdays and a more advanced class on Fridays. We also have a fun day once a week for students to come by our English center to hangout with us, their teachers, and practice English more. These times have been fun and tough. I do not think my calling is to be a teacher but it has been great to interact with these kids and to love/pray for them.

On Rest
Since teaching does not take a lot of our time each week, we have been able to get a lot of rest both physically and spiritually which is what our ministry host intended for us this month. It has been tough for me to maintain a consistent quiet time with the Lord and this month has definitely enabled that to happen which has been great for me and my own walk with the Lord. I have also have a lot of time to spend reading other Christian books that have brought me closer the Lord.
I have a couple more thoughts to speak on that I will put in a second post!
