Here are a few pictures that can describe what our month in Honduras looked like.  Enjoy!!

Lizard in our room

This is our lizard that hangs out in our room.  He likes the window because he can get some sun and catch bugs at the same time.  We’ve seen it done!!

Cupcakes

Julie and I are making cupcakes for the Carnival we put on the first Saturday we were in Honduras.  These were used as prizes for the cupcake walk!

Our room in Honduras

Dustin and I both sleep on the top bunk in our room.  It is necessary for my sanity to have the mosquito net to keep unwanted bugs out of our bed.

The boys

These are four of the six boys we spend a lot of time with.  Luis, Christopher, Fernando, and Carlos are doing what they love best at the farm…watching a movie (their favorite is Tinkerbell)!

Luis

Luis is a great artist and he drew a picture for Dustin and I.  He loving drew us as fish with hair!

Teaching English Class

Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, we have English classes up at the farm.  We are playing human Tic Tac Toe (which they loved!) and then doing small group work.  Their favorite thing so far has been to learn a song about the Days of the Week (now it is clear why I have a teaching degree!!)

Sanctos's girls

These are the sweet daughters of the family that lives on the farm with us.  It does not matter how many times we pass their house each day, every time these girls run out and give each one of us a hug.  It is so fun to see their smiling faces every day!!  Their dad and brothers work on the farm doing maintenance and yard work.

El Horno

Alexandra took Julie, Dustin and I on a hike to see the entire community of El Horno.  This is the bird’s eye view of El Horno.  We love it here!

Pamela, Alexandra, and Carmen have invited us to eat lunch with them at their house several times this month.  They have been showing us typical Honduran foods and on this day we had bastillos which are fried tortillas with potatoes in the middle and cole slaw and picante sauce on top.  Delicious!!

We had the honor of being in Honduras when Pamela had her baby boy, Dustin Edgardo.  We had been joking that the baby should have a solid, strong name and thought Dustin Edgardo (Dustin after Dustin Suttle and Edgardo after Pamela’s father) would be a great name.  When he was born, they told us that they had given him this name and felt Dustin was his second father (The biological father is out of the picture). So here he is…Dustin Edgardo!  What a beautiful memory for us!  Not just a memory, but a lasting impression on a family that God saw us fit to love for a month!

Dustin and I set the bar high on Thanksgiving by putting on our best outfits for our dinner at the farm.  Such great memories were made on a Thanksgiving like none other we have ever had!!

We had such a great month in Honduras and a little bit of our hearts will stay there forever.  We are finishing up debrief with our squad in Granada, Nicaragua and heading to Boca de Toro, Panama on Sunday.  Pray for safe travels for all of our teams and for great work to be done in the month of December!  We love you all and thank you so much for all your support!
