We though having a cake walk for 100+ Hondurans was recipe for disaster…

The Boys at La Finca

We arrived in Honduras one week ago, and we are so excited about the ministry here.  Tony is our American contact, and he has been in the area for about four years.  He is not part of any organization or with any group. He just has a heart for the people here and wants to be a part of what God is doing in Honduras.  About a year ago, Tony began spending time with a group of boys from Los Pinos, a community about 30 minutes away from where we are staying.  Los Pinos is a place of darkness and no hope, but Tony knew God could make a difference in that place.  There are six boys that Tony has been pouring into this past year, four of them are brothers and the other two are cousins.  They are from the ages of 11-17.  Several of them struggle with sniffing paint thinner as a way to get high, stop their hunger, and numb the pain of their lives, and it is still something that they are battling with.  There is Henry, Josue, Christopher, Luis, Carlos, and Fernando and they have absolutely captured our hearts!  They spend the night up at La Finca (The Farm) on Fridays, and it is so awesome that Tony has made a place for them to just be boys and to be free.  We have pillow fights, watch movies, and eat a ton. They are some of the most amazing boys that we have ever met!

Another community we are working with this month is El Horno.  La Finca (The Farm) is about a five minutes walk up from El Horno, and everybody that we have met there is so beautiful!  They know who we are by now, and they have welcomed us into their community with open arms.  Which leads me to carnivals and cupcakes…

Duck, Duck, Goose

Two days after we got here, we had a carnival planned for the people of El Horno.  The teams that were here last month put up flyers and invited people to welcome us into town.  We planned the event with the hopes of maybe 30 people showing up.

The Pinata

Oh how God loves to go above and beyond!  They just kept coming!  We had over 100 people at The Farm for face painting, duck duck goose, tag, pinatas, a cupcake walk, and for the grand finale, a cake walk where three families went home with huge cakes.  It was chaotic and crazy, but man was it fun!  It was a great way to meet people and let them know who we are and what we are doing.

Facepainting!

Please pray for us this month as we invest our time and energy into Los Pinos and El Horno.  Pray for the boys that they will be examples in their community.  Pray for the English classes we are doing in both communities.  Pray that we can make an impact that will last for generations to come.
