We have just finished up our month here in Malaysia. The ministry here is great, and I have really enjoyed getting to know the people and helping them with their English. Teaching has been a lot harder than I ever thought it would be, but it’s been a great experience. I am still amazed with our contacts and the faith they have in following the Lord’s call here and using the boldness He has given them to reach out to the people here.
The town of Gua Musang is in the state of Kelantan which is the only state run by the conservative Islamic party here in Malaysia. You can definitely tell this by walking around and seeing all the Muslims. However they are very accepting even though they know that the only white people walking around the town are obviously Christians. They are always waving and smiling at us as we walk by. We even had a chance to start some pretty good relationships with some of the people at the local restaurants. Though we never had the chance to talk with them about Christ, I feel we did not need to. We tried to show them Christ’s love in other ways.
On Sunday we will be heading off to China for the month to work at an orphanage for special needs kids. I’m pretty excited to see what the Lord has prepared for us there. We will not have access to the internet during our time in China, so I will catch you all up with a few blogs when we get to the Ukraine for month 9.
