After our first 2 weeks in India, all the story tellers for our squad were presented with a list of projects Bibles for the World (BFTW), our mission host, wanted to film. Between the 4 of us, we did 7 projects for BFTW in roughly a 2-week span. We shifted our focus from our previous work to seeking out these stories and getting to know the people behind them. It was exhausting, but God revealed so much to me as we tried to capture these stories and I wouldn’t have wanted to spend my month any other way.
The focus of all these stories was the sponsorship program BFTW has. Basically, they help connect sponsors in the U.S. to children in need here in NE India. For 35$ a month, kids can be sent to school from Pre-K to 12th grade. I’ve heard about sponsorship programs before but after seeing the children and the people behind the organization, I knew that this was different and that this was real.
One of the stories I worked on was the success story of Victor. Victor was sponsored by a family (from Indiana, coincidentally) for the majority of his schooling. Because of the education he got and the connection he had with his sponsor family, he is now an optometrist at the Sielmat Christian Hospital and has a family of his own. It was great to get to know him and to hear his story and I am so blessed that I was able to capture it. Check out Victors story here.
