My name is Don Brensinger. I’m a 27-year-old journalist living in East Greenville, PA, which is about an hour north of Philadelphia, home of the World Champion Phillies (never gets old saying that). I’ve been working at a daily newspaper in nearby Pottstown for more than four years now. I started out covering township and school board meetings, but now I’m where I belong in the sports department. I graduated from Asbury College in 2004 and loved it there after transferring from Houghton College in upstate New York after my sophomore year.

Sports are a pretty big part of my life, since it is my job. In high school, I played soccer and warmed benches during basketball season. I like to workout, and I love playing all kinds of sports. I’m a 4-for-4 guy, which means I root for all the pro Philly teams: Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, and 76ers. Because the Eagles are my favorite team, I can almost guarantee they will win the Super Bowl this year, for the sole reason that I will not be able to watch them. Thankfully, the Phillies let me see my first championship last summer. (I noticed there are some Cubs fans on the World Race team, and, since I’m a nice guy, I figured I’d post some pictures to show you what a championship looks like.)

God has blessed me with an awesome Christian family, so I grew up going to church and, when I was eight years old, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior one day in the bathtub. My dad is a pharmacist and one of the best examples of a Christian man I know, and my mom is the best cook I know as well as a great helper and listener. I have three sisters (Tammy, Katie, Becky), one brother-in-law (Dave), two nephews (David and Alex), and a black cat (Mittens … if you saw his paws, you’d understand the name).

I’m an ordinary guy. I watch football every Sunday, I listen to loud music while I’m driving, I like going to the movies, and I probably play more video games than I should. I have no experience on the mission field, and limited experience when it comes to backpacking/hiking/outdoorsy stuff. The first several times I visited The World Race Web site, I didn’t even think this was possible for me, but slowly God has shown me how much He loves taking ordinary guys like Moses, David, and Gideon and doing extraordinary works through them. God has called me to The World Race for a reason, and I can’t wait to see how He’s going to work through me.
