TO CAMBODIA

                Back in
Bangkok, Team Jubilee was once again given a list of ministries to pray over,
and decide what we felt led to do. We then loaded vans and drove 3 hrs. to the
Thai-Cambodia border. Two hours later we
were allowed to cross the border… on foot. (For your information, Cambodia is poor, very poor. GDP of less than 9
billion, compared to the nearly, what is it these days, 55 trillion in the US?)
Things got pretty sketchy at that point, and I remembered reading that out of
168 or so countries’ Corruptionioness, Cambodia was in the bottom twenty. Everywhere at the border children were
begging and trying to steal stuff off of people. Once you crossed, many men
were masquerading as government officials to try and get you to ride on their
The  Riel, Cambodia’s nearly worthless currency.  One USD to  4,300 R
bus line. We found our bus(s). They wanted us to put our bags on one bus,
and get on a completely different one… I
say, “no thank you” to that sort of thing, generally, as a rule of thumb. Fifteen minutes later, and it becomes a
reality, somehow I am on a different bus than my bag… Why in the world is this
okay? But, I feel the need to listen to my squad leaders, and trust the Lord to
protect my stuff. Turns out we got a guy
or two on the bus with our luggage before we left. My tensions are eased, sort
of. We are let off 15minutes later at a
bus station. Thirty minutes later we
board the bus that has had our luggage on it all along. And two hours later we are in Siem Reap, the
second largest city in Cambodia, where we sleep three nights and do some
business as a squad.

TRANSITIONS…

Time has come, and now Andi and Sean, our squad leaders must
step down, and announce their replacements. Jory, Weston, and Katie, my former team leader, are now the new squad
leaders. Matthew is moved into the leadership position on my team, and we
joyfully welcome this new season. Tim
and Celeste replace Jory and Weston respectively.

TOURISM

Angkor Wat, the largest temple in the World, happens to
reside in Siem Reap. I explore it. I see monkeys running wild. We explore the surrounding temple ruins,
which in my opinion, are much cooler. Matthew and I, when no one is looking, explore all of those temple
ruins.

A small temple, built into the wall that surrounds Angkor Wat.

They tell me Tomb Raider was filmed here.

A very discouraging sign, but I was rather encouraged by the height of the fence.

MINISTRY

We find out our ministry for the next month. We are told, “Team Jubilee is going to Phnom
Penh to work with a church doing some evangelism, teaching English, and service
projects, etc…” We travel to Phnom Penh,
meet our contact and get the just of it. This month we will be spending 2 days in Penh, 5 days in a village, 2
days in Penh, 5 days in village, etc. Phnom Penh, by the way, is the largest city in Cambodia.

TO VILLAGE 1

Two hour bus ride. Half hour from the Cambodia-Vietnam border. Small village. Awesome Ministry begins…
