Tuesday, we had the opportunity to attend a 4 ½ hour revival
meeting. Once again, I could understand
very little of what was going on around me, but that didn’t stop me from
singing along at the top of my lungs, and I think I might have mastered “the
Quiche Clap” as I’m calling it(apparently rhythm isn’t looked upon as highly as
back in the States). And once again, we were volunteered to sing a few songs in
front of the congregation. I am
confident singing is not where the Lord saw fit to gift me.
Although I could not make out all of what the pastor was
saying, it was great to see him in his element, preaching with a passion I have
rarely seen. During the meeting, a flood
inspiring rain fell upon us, and the tarp above us began to leak in multiple
places. We rearranged our chairs and carried on.
Friday night we were invited to the pastor’s son’s
graduation. It was quite an experience
and I felt like more people were
watching us than paying attention to the
ceremony. Thank God for that guy ringing
the bell and selling scoops of Saritas (probably the greatest ice cream ever)
in the middle of the room. It has been
really great to become a part of this family. It is really encouraging to see that the promises of Christ are being
fulfilled… that anyone who leaves family
for Christ’s sake and the Gospel’s sake will receive a hundredfold (Mark
10:29-31).
