This month we have been staying near the center, of the capital city of Zambia. Visiting with pastors, missionary’s and churches at really nice facility’s or at the hostel we are staying at. We’ve had meetings, and talked about what their ministries are doing, but after one meeting at our hostel last week, a pastor named Davies Banda invited us visit his ministry, and orphanage for the day. We went to visit the orphanage called God at Work For Kids. To be completely honest this is the first time all month I have been floored with love and compassion for a specific ministry we visited.

It was an absolutely amazing experience. We learned more about pastor Banda, and the orphanage he started out of complete obedient faith. He said at the visit how he started this ministry out of faith not funds, and how he trusts that The Lord will provide every time they bring a new child in off the streets. He told us of how God redeemed him from a past of homelessness and drug abuse. And talked about his future goals for the orphanage. Right now God at Work has outgrown it’s self. They now have 57 children, ages 1-18, that they care for and put through school (which is not free). I had the honor of speaking with a few of the young men, all in grades 8-10 who have been at the orphanage for some time. We talked about sports, Jesus and their futures. They all had such joy and hope knowing that through the education being provided through God at Work, they all would have opportunities for higher education and a better future. They had aspirations to become doctors, lawyers, journalists and even pilots. It was truly amazing to see such joy in young men whose circumstances would seem hopeless to most. The compound is very small, in the U.S it would be a normal living space for a 4-5 person family. They have now purchased a new, much larger piece of land that has ample space for a new orphanage, and land to farm on to help the feed the kids. But without the funds to build on the land immediately, they are now facing legal issues with squatters trying to claim their land.
Even through all of this, pastor Banda and all the children are in such high spirits. Knowing they they serve and trust a loving God that has every bit if this in His hands.
God at Work needs your prayer and needs partnership.
