In the past few months of being on the race, I have been blessed in expanding my family; every single person holds a special place in my heart and life.

My family from Ukraine is my host/ministry contact family.  My team and I were able to spend a good amount of time with them playing floorball, having family dinners, laughing, playing games and simply living life together.

As you can imagine, when hosting a team of six girls, there is a little waiting time involve…

Edik!

Ahhh Misha!!!

The little princes of the family Nastia, spent a lot of time with us and had a dress for every occasion!

After church one Sunday Nastia just had to have Erika draw Hello Kitty on her arm. As I was photographing it for her, Misha photo bombed it.

On our last week with our family, we (LaShon and a few assistants) were able to prepare them an American meal, complete with ice cream for desert. When the meal came to an end, we presented them with a drawing from Erika of five doves on a rooftop representing peace resting on the household, family and the nation.

In true World Race fashion, we secured the picture to its frame with some of my purple duck tape, which was inspected then immediately hung in their kitchen.

Finding no reason to let the night end there, we had a ‘girls only’ sleepover party with Nastia, Alla, and Julia and Julia from church and floorball.  As you know, the best sleepovers are spent ‘camping,’ so Stephanie set up her tent in the green room aka the sanctuary. There, we played ‘Uno’ and had a dance party and snacks.  The evening wound down and we set up matts to watch a princess movie ‘Tangled’ then drift off to sleep.

On our final Saturday in Ukraine Kayla, Amanda and I went on a walk/hike to the hill overlooking Kolomea with the men of the family.

Bonas photograph!  One day when some of us were walking through town this gentleman came up to me and motioned for me to take his photograph, and this is what I got.
