Biking Across America!
Some of you may be close friends, some of you may have been in my life for a brief moment in time, or maybe we were once close but our lives went separate ways. Either way, I appreciate you taking the time to read what I am about to share with you.

So here’s the big picture… I am going on a mission trip starting in September through an organization, Adventures in Missions in their World Race program. The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world. My team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restoration and hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations. We will be going to China, Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, India, Nepal, Ukraine, and Romania. Fror more on the mission trip specifically, see my previous blog post.

So in order to go on this trip, we are required to raise a certain amount of money. I have decided to bike across America in order to raise funds. To me, it will be more than just raising money for a mission trip. It will be an adventure full of the unexpected. I will an inexperienced female “cyclist”, going alone, biking 3500 miles across 11 states in 11 weeks. Now that’s an adventure!

I will be resigning from my job in Hawaii on May 19th to start biking right away, so I will no longer have a steady income. Therefore, I will be spending as little money as possible during this time. I will be couch surfing in as many cities as possible, staying with friends along the way, but for the most part I will be camping in a small tent and sleeping bag that I will be bringing with me. Sometimes in camp sites, sometimes where ever I happen to find a spot.

I have some details worked out, but considering this is the type of trip that people will train for and plan out for months, and even years ahead of time, it’s a little spur of the moment. I think that makes it all the better. Anyone knows that a trained cyclist being followed by a “support” car (someone literally following them in a automobile with their supplies etc.) can make the journey. But an untrained 25 year old girl, just up and quitting her job and biking thousands of miles? That takes some faith. Luckily I’ve got plenty.

However, I could use your support. No amount is too small. Anything from supplies, to money, to a prayer will be very much appreciated. If you are interested in helping me out, take a look below at the different ways to contribute. If you are willing to, consider talking to a group of friends, some people at work, at the gym, in church, etc, and supporting me as a group! If nothing else, I could use encouragement along the way. Post a nice little message on facebook, send me a text while I’m out in the trail, or like I said, pray pray pray! Anything helps!

Also, if you know anyone in nearby cities who would be willing to let me shower and crash on their couch for the night, that would be a tremendous contribution.

Follow my blog posts, add me on facebook, and spread the word. I’m out to prove that faith will take you farther than you could have every imagined. And whatever you do in life, it’s 90% heart and soul and 10% physical.

Ways to contribute:
Financially:
Click on the “Support Me” button to the left. This money goes towards the $15,500 needed to serve in the 11 countries. This is the reason for the bike trip!

Keep in mind that this is just a basic guideline. Like I said, any amount will make a difference!

1 penny per mile = $35
2 pennies per mile = $70
3 pennies per mile = $105
4 pennies per mile = $140
5 pennies per mile = $175
6 pennies per mile = $210
7 pennies per mile = $245
8 pennies per mile = $280
9 pennies per mile = $315
10 pennies per mile = $350

Some also prefer to give monthly, and keep in mind that all donations made through this site are tax deductible! Checks are also accepted. Please message me for details on how to send a check!

With supplies:
I will be needing a few things for both the biking trip and the mission trip such as a tent, a sleeping bag, a backpack, etc. Message me if you would like to contribute in this way, and we can work something out!

Of course I will be trying to stay alive through out this entire journey, so I will have to eat. This is something I will try to spend very little money on, but it’s a must! A gift card to different places along the way, or a grocery store, etc. would be extremely helpful!

Through Connections:
Message me if you know anyone in the following cities that would be willing to let me crash for a night! This would be very beneficial in many ways because I could use a local’s advice on maybe alternative routes… places to stop… and other useful information for a long trip. All in all I think meeting different people will be one of the most rewarding parts.
