We were asked to write a statement about what we believe…
I believe that a group of people unifying together for a common cause is a powerful thing. Do you believe it?
If you look at history, the revolutions that have happened were caused by people, not a person. Yes, they have all had leaders, but there’s something extraordinary that happens what people rally together. I believe that if our team rallies together for a common cause of seeing God glorified, it will be extremely powerful.
I’m going to pull a Benny and use an analogy. BTW, if you don’t know Benny he’s on my squad and he uses a lot of analogies.
Check out his blog!
I’m going to explain to you my passion for seeing people unified together through the game of baseball. Even if you’re not a baseball fan, stay with me.
What is baseball?
1. Nine guys playing as one to reach a common goal of winning the game.
2. Each guy has a different position on the team, but is equally as valuable and the team cannot function without all nine players. There will be a gap in the field if you do.
3. Some games you win and some games you lose.
4. For pitchers and catchers, it’s about strategizing and knowing what pitch to throw next to get the strike.
5. Sometimes you get the save.
6. Sometimes you have to bunt sacrifice to advance the runner.
7. After every game, you look at films of your performance and see where you can improve.
8. You’re excited with the team when you win and you are disappointed when you lose.
What is our squad on The Race?
1. 54 (or 7) people coming together as one for the common goal of winning souls to Christ and seeing God glorified.
2. Each person has different ability and roles they bring to the team, and they are all equally important. There will be a missing piece without all team members.
3. Some battles you win and some you lose.
4. For leadership, it’s about praying to figure out how you can best reach someone.
5. Sometimes you see souls won for Christ when they were down before.
6. Sometimes you have to sacrifice yourself for the good of the team and the glory of God.
7. At the end of each day, you read your bible to see how you can become more like Christ.
8. We rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn.

I could go on and on, but it’s a powerful thing when a baseball team wins a championship.
Above is a picture of the Philadelphia Phillies after they won the 2008 World Series. Pitcher Brad Lidge dropped to his knees and catcher Carlos Ruiz ran to hug him, and then first-baseman Ryan Howard (He’s a BIG guy) tackled them both. This was a full-on running tackle. My point is this was a HUGE celebration. They unified together and achieved their goal.
I see this (times 10) as a picture of us as we celebrate our victories. I see us running to hug each other (sometimes with a tackle). I see us crying together. I see a group of young people rising up with selfless faith. I see dancing, joy and feelings that cannot be expressed in this blog. If we unify together it will happen. And not only will we be celebrating, heaven will be too. Now that’s a party!
I can’t wait to see what God is going to do with 53 passionate people coming together for the Kingdom next year. Man, will it be awesome!
