Who am I?… Well I’m just me
, my name is Devon Bolan and I’d like to share with you a little of my story!
I’m 21 years old. Right now I live in San Angelo Texas where I attend Angelo State University and am working on a degree in Business Management.
I’m gonna graduate soon, whoop!
I’m originally from Albuquerque New Mexico
(yes, its the set of Breaking Bad, and no its not that bad)
Actually its really beautiful there, as you can see from the picture above!
I moved to Texas permanently when I was 9, where I grew up in a little town outside Austin called Burnet on Lake Buchanan.
Growing up my church life was sporadic but I always felt the presence of God with me.
When I was in high school I attended church camp with a friend at Abilene Christian University. I didn’t even know it was church camp at the time, but when I got there I encountered God, and I mean truly encountered him, for the first time. I came to know what the meaning of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection really meant, and what they meant for me. I was saved by His blood, and I now knew that.
My faith didn’t really blossom until I reached college. I joined several christian organizations. The first is Rams for Christ (RFC). In which I found my church home, a place to learn where my focus should be, but more than that I found community.
The second campus ministry I became involved in is called Chi Alpha. They saw in me potential for leadership that I’m not sure I even saw in myself. They helped me to grow spiritually in ways I never thought possible and especially my small group (aka life group) has helped keep me accountable and gotten me through things I know I could never have overcome alone.
I also volunteer frequently, and have recently completed an internship, with a non profit called House of Faith (HOF). One of my callings has always been to children and HOF has allowed me to answer that calling. In recent months it has become a home away from home, as it is for so many of the children it serves.
The last important details you should know about me are that…
1. I’m the middle child of three (older sister, younger brother), and I love my family no matter how crazy they get… which can be very!
2. I have awesome friends who have been with me through everything for the past 10 years at least (though we met in first grade). They are the best friends and roommates a girl could ask for and I don’t know where I’d be without them… oh yeah they’re identical too!
3. And finally… and I saved the best for last folks. I absolutely adore dogs, especially my dog! Now I know that sounds silly but there is a reason the word dog is God backwards. Her name is Myla and she is always there to give me a kiss and let me hug her. She is better than any therapy I could pay for and she’s spoiled rotten to boot. She makes me smile every day and I’m going to miss her soo much when I’m on The Race that it almost hurts… isn’t she cute!
So thats it everybody those are the most interesting and important parts of me!
I hope you enjoyed as this is the first blog I’ve ever written.
Let me know how I did in the comments below and I’d love to answer any questions you might have about me, so feel free to ask!
P.S. Fun fact, I’m Adopted!
