Our very first day of ministry here in Costa Rica, my teammate David and I were doing yard work. In a far corner of the lawn was an old rusty swing set with no swings. The two of us separately had the idea to repair the swings for the students at ZOE. We talked together and decided that night that we would repair it before the end of the month.
Though we decided to repair it the first day of ministry, we didn’t get around to doing so until two days ago. Repairing the swing was actually a fairly easy task. We only had to spend $4 on supplies to repair it; the school already had wood that they aloud us to use for the swings, so all we had to purchase was rope at the local hardware store.
Tuesday, the guys of my team and I worked together in the morning to do repair the swing set. We found wood which we cut into three seats. Then we sanded down the edges to smooth them out, drilled holes into it to run the rope through, and tied them to the swing set.
Moises, one of our friends here, helped us dig the swing set into the ground so it would stay in place. We haven’t repainted it yet, but we plan to do that this week with some green paint the school has.
The kids absolutely love it. They spend all of their recess time (and time where they should actually be in class) playing on the swings. Seeing the joy it has brought to the kids has been so heartwarming to me. I’m so happy to have been able to bless these them. Most of the month, I’ve been doing manual labor, and I’ve felt like I really haven’t done anything to serve God. After repairing the swings, though, I feel like I’ve really done something for this school and the children. Just a couple hours of work was a blessing to these children and a blessing to me.
We have another plan for the kids, but we haven’t yet been able to carry it out. We found an old pole lying in the yard the first time we mowed, and we have some leftover rope from repairing the swings. We want to make a tetherball pole for the kids. The only thing we need to buy is a ball to tie to the pole. Hopefully we will be able to find a ball so we can give these kids another gift.
God has been so good to us at this ministry. We’ve been blessed in so many ways. Be praying that God will allow us to be able to continually bless as we’ve been blessed.

In other news, I’m about $2,700 away from being fully funded! Please pray and consider donating to my Race to help fully fund me!
