Haha! You thought you were going to stop getting blogs from me didn’t you? Well don’t give up on me too soon because I plan on continuing this blogging journey and keeping you all updated on what is going on in this neck of the woods, wherever that may be.
So I have been home exactly one month and five days. Hard to believe that just a month and a week ago I was on the other side of the globe. But alas, I am here and just two days ago finished my North American tour that took me to a multitude of places such as Chicago, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Georgia, and back to Colorado again. It was so good to see family and friends that I have missed over the year and it was fun to catch everyone up with stories, pictures, and relics from my adventure.
Being home has definitely had its benefits. For example less than an hour after getting off my flight I was eating a chocolate malted milkshake and sweet potato fries (which are two of my favorite things). However, home has not been without its challenges. About Day 3 after arriving in Loveland I had a major melt-down and was wondering how I was ever going to be able to do this thing called life in America again.
However I have learned, with helpful guidance from my mom and others this month, to take things one day at a time and not to allow myself to get overwhelmed with choices and things I need to do. Life here is much more fast paced than most places overseas and at times I have found myself rushing to try and keep up with it, to no avail. Instead I am now actively trying to slow things down and to enjoy every moment of the re-entry process. I am praying that God will help me to keep my focus on the things that are most important, like continuing my blog and playing music, and loving the people around me and the Lord everyday.
So today, following the theme of simplicity, I started setting up my room. I pulled out old pictures and went through boxes and clothing I didn’t even remember that I owned. It was fun to look at all my old things and remember when and where they came from. I can’t wait to have my little sanctuary of a room all set up and to get cozy and comfortable in my new Colorado home. Tomorrow I am going to church and meeting people that will soon become part of my heart and life. All-in-all, I can’t complain, and I am very excited about all this next season of life will bring.
Hope the new year is treating you all well and I will write another update soon!
Ephesians 6:10 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. “
