About Desirae…
I am a lover, a fighter, a sinner and a saint. (Wait a minute that's Meredith Brooks). Lol. The best way to describe me, and my facebook title to boot, is "Just a girl, trying to make it in this Big Bad World." I am just your average girl who wants nothing but everything. And everything to me is to spread the grace and love that I have received with others. God's love. I must admit that in the course of deciding whether this mission was right for me I had many questions and it has taken a lot to accept that this is what He wants for me. Am I good enough? Are my desires in the right place? Can I share and spread the love of Christ with others when I feel so new in his spirit myself? I question, He answers. Time and time again in the affirmative. Telling me he has great things in store if I can learn to listen and follow. This is not an easy thing for me. I have been accustomed to deciding my own life (or at least thinking that I do) and making my own decisions for quite some time. This race will be a testament to my faith not only to him but to myself, my friends, and my family. But I am so excited. Excited to be renewed in His spirit. Excited to be around people who feel the same as I do about the man in the sky. Excited to be for the first time in my life completely reliant and faithful to Him. Excited to spend time with Him more than ever and have that be the focus of my life. To love others. To pray. To heal.
To be saved by grace and loved by God is the single most amazing feeling in the world. And I cannot wait to begin. To release the shackles of the past, to boldly move into the future more focused, ready, and contented than ever before.
So there is my heart on paper… (or HTML rather). Here are some fun facts about the D-Master, DizzyDez, or Double D some call me (Desirae Dawn).
1. I love to sing. I never feel as close to God or others than when I am playing my guitar and singing to him and in His name. I have gone to more concerts in the last year than ever in my life and have grown to believe that music is the universal language of love, and God truly speaks through tone, volume, pitch, and crescendo.
2. I am a college graduate and currently a Regional Sales Manager for a Satellite company, a job I will be giving to God and giving up as a result of this race.
3. Technology hates me. Though I work in a field of advancing technology I somehow manage to skirt it and I swear that it knows and revolts against me.
4. Two days ago I went surfing in the Pacific Ocean and two dolphins befriended me. (Flippin' way cool experience). I surfed with the Dolphins!!
5. I am a child of a mixed family of 8 including 2 step brothers, 2 half brothers, 2 full brothers, and a step sister, and I love all of my siblings more than life itself. Though we have seen the worst of it together including death, suicide, and seperation there is a deep undertone of love in my family that continues to prevail through every obstacle.
6. I hate cantelope. It is a domineering fruit that takes over the rest of the fruits and ruins their flavor and texture. Say no to Cantelope! 😉
7. Two years ago I finally came to understand what being a Christian meant and watched EAT, PRAY, LOVE. One year ago I broke off my engagement and a relationship that was holding me back from His grace, and now I am going to go EAT, PRAY, & LOVE and I couldn't be more excited!!
8. Yay for me, Yay for You, Yay for Jesus!!
