They all came from different villages around the main city of Kampala there in Uganda, walking miles to that community center. Some showing up with no shoes, old torn clothes… these children were taking care of babies. Babies with diseases, little girls who had been sexually abused, children with burns and scars, they all had a different story. One thing they all had in common? They all wanted to be loved. They were not only starving from food, but just as much as starving FOR LOVE. This is why I was sent. This is why God said “go.” These precious BEAUTIFUL babies, were God’s children. That little girl with her head held low in shame and guilt, that was HIS daughter. Any agonizing pain felt for them, HE was feeling infinity times more than I could have ever felt. The community center was like an escape for each of them, it was a time to sing, dance, and feel free. What I saw was PURE joy. That even though they had horrific home lives, they were singing with a FULL heart… they were dancing with FREEDOM… and just with one little smile or some sense of love given to them, they would turn into the HAPPIEST kids alive! In that time, the world was forgotten and we were free. In that moment, holding that little baby in my hands… Jesus was there. This is why, I am called.

This is when God broke me, and put an EXPLOSION of love inside my heart for the broken, the sick, the homeless, the needy.

After coming back to the states, the Lord made it completely obvious I was to do long term missions aka THE WORLD RACE GAP YEAR! (: I ignored Him at first, of course… because 9 months is kind of a big deal as you all know. BUT after much time was spent in prayer, and God had sent numerous people to tell me this is the calling He had put on my heart… I applied and WAS ACCEPTED! Starting in September I will be spending 3 months in Central America, 3 months in Southeast Asia, and 3 months back in Africa! Doing ministry with the poor, orphans, prostitutes, prisoners, etc. This is the time for my team and I to see what it is truly like to drop the comfy Americanized life that we all have, and follow Him into the world to be THE HANDS & FEET OF JESUS. (Girly scream) Many people have questioned this, which is okay… because I know I did when the Lord spoke this to me, but one thing I can say with 100% raw truth is I’m chasing after Christ. I see Him, I hear him beckoning me into this world, and I’m following. So won’t you consider joining me prayerfully as I fundraise? I have about $12,500 to raise by August and I am completely believing this is God’s time to SHINE, He wants to show off… and He will. Our provider, our deliverer, He is.
