I have been in Africa for the last two months. =) My favorite place in the world. We were also able to make it home for my little sisters wedding. It was so awesome to be there for her.
This month we are in Uganda, staying in a small village about 3 hrs away from internet or a cold drink. It has been so stretching being there. Mike and I share a twin size bed in a mud and grass hut and about 4 frogs like to sleep with us at night along with a few spiders. A hen even laid a few eggs in the hut the first night I was there. =) =)
I have been loving the ministry this month. I have been part of running an HIV support group, a women leaders support group, and Michael and I were asked to talk about marriage to the married couples. It is so interesting the differences between cultures but yet we all desire the same things. I was able to preach 40 minutes on Sunday and we dance A LOT here.
We are in major bush Africa. They build a fire and sing and make African noises. We have tried to get some video of them playing their awesome wooden instruments in the church. It is so lively and pure here.
Ive been able to milk a cow and hold a baby on my back. I love it so much.
The pastor we are with partners with COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL. Mike and I sponser a girl through Compassion so it is very cool to actually see them in action. The World Race team we are with has been teaching the compassion kids and doing check ups to make sure the kids are taken care of. I believe in Compassion more than I ever did. We get to see over 100 of the kids every week and see what they get to do. They get food and schooling. They make sure they are in Sunday school. On Saturdays the kids learn about life skills and are taught lessons on things like trust and forgiveness. They make sure the kids have proper shelter as well. THe compassion children seem so polite and thankful. I suggest anyone who wants to sponser a child can go through Compassion for about $30 a month. It is worth it and above and beyond what you would expect.
Please be in PRAYER. We just recieved an email that our Compassion child was in the worst part of the earthquake. SHe lives in Haiti. I trust that eaither way she is fine. She belives in Jesus as her savior and was well taken care of. Compassion does not know if she made it through the earthquake or not.
Well, I love you all so much. The World Race just keeps getting better and better.
