Today is our last day in Ireland.
I can easily say that this month has taught me a lot of lessons. This month I have been really scared about
stepping out of my comfort zone. I’ve been nervous to spark conversations with
the people here and I have been really frustrated with myself. These past few
days I have remembered some words of advice that I was given for the World Race.
“Do it. Even if you don’t know what the heck you are doing.” So yesterday, I
decided I needed to give up my pride and just try, despite my nerves. At the
church we were handing out free bags of groceries. We were told to talk and
build some small relationships with the people coming for the food. With a deep
breath, off I went. So I met Anne. She needed me to get her groceries and I
kept getting her water because she had a pretty strong hang over. Just read
what Anne could have missed out on if I didn’t just get over myself and go talk
to her.

Me: I’m sorry you feel so sick Anne. It’s not so fun is it?

Anne: Not at all. I’m an alcoholic. I have four kids.

Me: You don’t want this do you?

Anne: No. It’s so hard to quit this evil drink.

Me: God’s bigger than the alcohol addiction. Can I pray for
you?

Anne: Yes please.

 (So we prayed freedom
over her life, for health to come to her body, and for the chains to break. I
was able to tell her how much God loved her and what a purpose God had for
her.)

Anne: Thank you so much.

Me: Do you know Jesus?

Anne: Kind of.

Me: He can give you freedom. Do you want to know him more?

Anne: Yes I do.

Me: I’m only here two more days. Would you like to talk to
someone from the church? They accept everyone no matter what you are dealing
with.

Anne: I would love that.

I let nerves hold me back this entire month, and I came to
realize it was as easy as that. They
always say that you never score unless you shoot. If I had never talked to her,
she may have never known of a way out. So GO AWAY you fear of failure. I think
I want to risk a little more and go against my nerves a little more. Who knows?
Someone’s life might be changed forever.

Favorite new quotes of the month:

“I do not want religious routine, but an authentic
experience with the living God.”

Sing hymns with the residents? NO! Sing hymns with the residence
with an improv hip- hop beat and dance. Oh goodness did they wake up and dance!
