First an apology that my next 6 or so blogs will not be in any type of order, some of them might not even be interesting BUT I had written them and I figure I might as well post them! This particular one is from the end of July when we went from Kenya to Uganda.

We left Ahero at 11am on July 27th, a little
behind schedule but not too bad, especially for Africa time 🙂 At 12:30 pm we
were in Kisumu at our bus station. Our bus was supposed to leave at 1pm but it
didn’t show up until 2pm. After an hour of driving, we had to stop and fix one
of our tires. It was very strange, they didn’t even make us get off the bus,
just pulled over and changed this massive tire; I mean we were on like a coach
sized bus. Finally we got going again and the next stop was the Uganda/Kenya
border which was disastrous. We needed to drop off two of our teammates (who
were going to another team) and pick up a new teammate. Let me just say, that
the border is NOT NOT NOT the place for team changes to happen. Between a
million miscomuunications of what side of the border we were meeting on and
hundreds of people wandering around trying to sell you stuff, it took forever!!
What should have been a quick stamping of passports turned into nearly an hour
ordeal. At one point, our driver threatened to leave us behind 🙁 I believe it
was 6:30pm when we arrived at our ministry site. They were very friendly and
they had prepared tea and dinner for us; although they felt it necessary to
show us how to butter bread and fix our tea – I guess Americans don’t really
know how to do that ;-D
