The plan was that our bags needed to be packed and downstairs by 5:45am on March 31st, ready to load the busses. At 5:40am one of the girls in my room starts announcing we have 5 minutes to be down stairs!! Somehow, all 6 of us had slept through our alarms. Luckily, we had all packed the night before and were still able to make it downstairs relatively on time. Oye how I hate being late.
We started to check in at the Peru airport around 7am; however, with 51 people it was past 8am before I got through check in and security. Our flight left at 10am to El Salvador!
When we landed in El Salvador we had a 6 hour lay over!! It was one of the smallest airports I’ve been in. Amazingly it had 4 or 5 duty free shops and a bunch of little stands but there were only 3 places to eat: Subway, some bar/cafeteria, and a pseudo Italian place. I might have had subway twice!! Flying makes you hungry!! Our flight from El Salvador was slightly delayed but around 8:30 we boarded the plane and within 30 minutes we had landed in Nicaragua π
From the airport in Nicaragua we had a 3 hour ride to our contacts! It would have been awesome if we had a bus or a large van; rather 20 people, with 20 large packs, and 20 day packs and 1 guitar crammed into the back of a truck. It might have been 15 feet long. Nonetheless we were sitting on bags, laying on bags, it was definitely an unforgettable ride! Of course we had to stop and fill up with gas; I’m still not entirely sure what the purpose of the second stop at the gas station was for. It was close to 2am by the time we dropped off another team and arrived at our ministry site!
This month I will only be using the internet to post blogs, if I use the internet at all. I just really feel that I need to spend more time focusing on being with my team, on what our ministry is and not running to the internet the first time that I feel bored or don’t know what to do with my time.
