We are finally in Peru, in the city of Trijullo to be exact 🙂 Let me tell you it was quite the adventure to arrive here. Let me give you the break down of our travel times:

Sunday 6th we left Quito Ecuador at 9pm

Monday 7th – 9am arrive near the Peru border

        • drive 10 min back into Ecuador to have our passports stamped

        • Wait for a different bus company to take us over the border, which is apparently dangerous to do and we needed to keep all the windows closed

        • Get our passports stamped over the border (we couldn’t stay here though because it was not entirely safe for white people)

        • 11am Arrive in a town called Tombes (I think)

        • Found a bus stop that would take us to Trujillo later that night, found ATM’s to take out Peruvian Sol’s, and got to eat lunch around 2pm

        • 9pm – left for Trujillo

Tuesday 8th – 9:30am- Arrive in Trujillo

      • breakfast at 10:30 with Inca Link Peru

      • 11:30 am arrive at housing

We are staying at a Children’s center that does not have any children at the moment as we are helping to finish preparing the facilities. One of our main ministries is construction for the facility. This building is going to house children who used to live in or around the garbage dump and whose parents don’t take care of them because of abuse, drugs, addictions, neglect, etc. It’s amazing the passion that these people have 🙂

We will also be working at a day care center that is specifically for children whose parents work at the garbage dump. There will also be bible studies and evangelism with our contact who is a pastor at one of the local churches. Apparently, people work in the garbage dump and they would bring their children in to work with them. The children, even like 2 year olds, would dig thru the garbage, pick it up, play in it and eat it. They said that they would have flies in their eyes, lice ridden and jut be dirty. Inca Link provides a day care for the children while their parents work in the garbage dump. They can go to the daycare for three days a week; while there they receive meals, crafts, education and love! It only costs $32 per child per month!

My internet is seemingly scarce this month. We are rather confined to the children’s center property and local transportation is not super available or reliable in this are. I will do my best to find internet cafes during my days off.

I’m sorry that I was not able to post pictures, but we only had 1 hour to eat and use the internet tonight, I hope you understand. Much love!

Prayer requests for the time being: Safety as we travel around town and work on making bricks and other construction projects. For the children and adults we will be working with. For finances for me a my teammates. Thank you!!
