No, I’m not going to write anything about the movie, but I feel like I better have your attention now 🙂 Last week we had the privilege of clearing out a space of weeds and rocks in order for the children in the town to sit down and watch a movie!! The children were soo excited to watch a movie, many of them never have that opportunity. Not to mention I was super stoked to use a machete!!
We have also assisted in the gathering of water to mix concrete with. I mean, for real mix concrete. None of this a truck shows up and pours it. We cleared a flat space to work on, dumped out bags of dry concrete mix, added some “sand” with pea gravel, then dumped the water on top. Next the guys used a shovel and pick axe to mix everything together. Then it goes into the wheelbarrow which is wheeled into the building, dumped out and spread around! Whew! We also had to rake out the big rocks so that they could be laid down as a base layer. The building we helped with is not very big like 10X15 or 10X20 feet and it took 3 whole days for the floor to be poured. But guess what?? Now it’s ready!! No longer do they need to meet in the street with no lights! I loved that manual labor and would do it again in a minute.
