I have to write about me?? Oh my ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m 25 years old, live in the Chicago suburbs (that I don’t like) and working at a residential facility called Mooseheart. Here I help out in the nursery school to raise children/teach them social skills as their parents (for whatever reason) are not able to take care of them. Prior to that I lived in a house with 7 elementary boys and was a houseparent/mom to them. I have loved both these jobs.
I went to Western Illinois University and graduated with a degree in psychology and music therapy – neither one of which I really use ๐Ÿ™‚ But God has done sooo much to teach me all during my time in college and teaching me to trust Him, when He started to show me to go a different path. While in college I did my internship in California, I miss it sooooo much, at a psychiatric ward for music therapy. It was an amazing experience but also a very difficult one. Daily I was told I was never good enough and was in a very unhealthy relationship BUT what I have learned from that experience is so priceless.
It wasn’t until 2004 that I decided to follow Christ and take that step of faith to believe in Him.
My work consumes a lot of my time, both by choice and by work description. In my spare time i enjoy hanging out with my friends and being outdoors. My favorite hobby is rock climbing!! Followed closely by ultimate frisbee!! I enjoy all sports – watching and playing (I can’t say that I’ve played football BUT I have played rugby)!! I grew up camping and still try to go every chance i get! Being outdoors (hiking, canoeing, camping, rock climbing, or even just sitting) is where I find most of my peace.
I also have a love for music – nothing brings chills to me more often than a stunning performance (regardless of genre) though I do have a hard time listening to songs with darker content or darker progression at times due to my past experiences.
My other love in life are children!! I can’t get enough of them, my friends and boyfriend often joke of my future rainbow family. THe worst of days always seems to be better when I am surrounded by smiling children.
I enjoy movies – my favorites are psychological thrillers, international films and occassionally dramas. I really do not like chick flicks, and I’m kinda picky about humorous movies. But I would much rather sit around and talk with my friends than be forced to sit quietly in a movie theater.
I enjoy being active and always having something to do.
I am so excited to go on this trip! TO be away from suburbia! To step into a life style I have never experience. To help other people. And to see what God’s next step/bigger picture is for my life.
I’m sure that I could write a novel, but then it wouldn’t be as much fun come October ๐Ÿ™‚
