I expect:
- to be too cold, too hot, too hungry, too thirsty, too sick, and too tired to feel like I can do anything worthwhile
- that God will lift me up and be my strength in these moments
- to crave ridiculous things like frappuccinos, chocolate covered potato chips, and gel eye masks.
- to crave sensible things like Dairy Queen, my dad’s venison stew, hanging out with my friends and family, and air conditioning
- to learn a few new words in different languages
- to be frustrated by injustice
- to feel overwhelmed
- to make friends
- to laugh
- to cry
- to be ok with uncertainty
- to let go of expectations
- to see breathtaking sunrises and innumerable stars
- to scream like a little girl when the first bug invades my sleep space
- to see God work in bigger and more dramatic ways than I have ever experienced
- to read the Bible more than ever
- to be homesick
- to have some pretty crazy stories at the end of all of this
- to come back having no idea what the newest technologies are or what the hip songs on the radio are
- to grow mentally, spiritually, and physically (I keep praying I’ll get to 5’6” maybe this will be the year! haha)
I have no idea what this year has in store for me, the above list is just my best guess, but I am all in and cannot wait to see what God has up His sleeve. I hope you will join me in this adventure!
