Today marks the half way point on the Race! So far this year I have learned:

  1. Spending 5 dollars on a birthday present, is a LOT of money.
  2. If you find hair/bugs/other gross things in your food, you just pick it out, and don’t tell anyone else so that they can fully enjoy their meal in ignorance.
  3. American money is actually really ugly.
  4. Driving on the left side of the road is super weird.
  5. Cellphones are not actually as important as I always thought they were.
  6. America needs better public transportation!
  7. Mopeds are genius. I want one when I get home.
  8.  It IS possible to make up an entire sermon at the drop of the hat.
  9. Language barriers don’t mean anything when it comes to loving someone.
  10. If you live in hot humid weather for too long, you get to the point where you start shivering in anything below 70 degrees.
  11. When it comes to health care, you really do get what you pay for. You can say that you love only paying 5 bucks to go to the hospital, but they very well might not even look at your infection, and just hand you a prescription.
  12. If you seek Him, you will find Him.
  13. Talking about things can really bring resolution.
  14. It is easy to forget how to talk like a normal person! I talk really slowly and with very simple words now to anyone who is not on our squad! which is usually not a bad thing, but when you say to someone from England “Wow, you speak English really well!” things start to get awkward.
  15. Crossing the road in other countries is EXACTLY like playing a really terrifying game of frogger.
  16. As long as you include the drivers, it is possible to play tag in tuck tucks in Hyderabad India.
  17. There are desperate people Everywhere, just wanting to be noticed. If you just take five minutes out of your day to ask how your server, cab driver, or the homeless person on the street is doing, you would be amazed at how much it makes them light up.
  18. World Racers love Chick Fal a
  19. Its possible to go through this whole year without changing at all, but it is also possible to come out of it a completely different person.
  20. Coffee, before it is picked looks a lot like cranberries.
  21. Training Camp taught me more then I ever will understand.
  22. I didn’t need to bring closed toe shoes. I have worn them once so far. Flip flops are all I ever wear.
  23. You can fit 13 people in a 13 person Tuck Tuck, and 18 people in a 9 person van.
  24. It is possible to feel completely at home on the other side of the world.
  25. A head bob can mean
  • yes/no
  • maybe
  • get out of my Tuck Tuck
  • I don’t understand
  • Pay me
  • why are you in the middle of the road?
  • nice to meet you
  • hello
  • goodbye
  • thank you
and much much more haha

Anyways, God has blown my my mind so far, and I am so excited to see what the next 5 1/2 months have in store for me!
