Hey everyone! I am so sorry for the lack of blogs this last couple of weeks, we had really sketchy internet this month. So I will be posting a number of blogs, to share with you all the amazing ministry we have been doing here in Cambodia.

A Day in the life of Deirdre – Cambodia style:

7:00 am – wake up, have breakfast, which is a loaf of bread either bought the day before in teh market, or bought that day by whoever went to the market that day. [at least a couple people would go to the market every day, But somehow I got out of going almost every time, and was able to have most mornings all to myself.

7:00 – 8:30 am – quiet time. I would usually listen to a sermon podcast, and spend some awesome time in the Word.  nothing like starting your morning off with Jesus.

8:30 – 9:30 am – this time was usually spent walking to get coffee at the near by shop. it was about a five minute walk, and then you would usually sit there and talk to Chan Ton the girl who makes the coffee. The coffee in cambodia consists of one shot of what i assume is coffee, tho it is as thick as pudding, and jet black. then they add sweet and condensed milk, and a TON of sugar. it was then served to us in a bag with 10X more ice then "coffee". it took us the first couple of weeks to start liking it, but because it was so close to our house, we got to the point where we would drink about three coffees a day; and at about 50 cents a cup, who can blame us?! This is also the time that I would usually do my laundry. Doing laundry was sooo much work, and with it being 8 million degrees in cambodia, you want to get laundry done early. I found myself one morning scrubbing my laundry, and having sweat dripping off my face onto my newly cleaned clothes. sad day.

9:30 – 10:30 am – Team Devotional. this month my team and I read through the book spiritual slavery, to spiritual sonship. It was a great book, and really made me stop and look at the way that i view my relationship with God.

11:30 am – 12:30 pm – First english class of the day. Justin and I taught Lets Go 5, which was a semi intermediate class, and was fill of  with children from the age of 10 to 15. in this class we taught them things such as:

          – Seasons, and what each season is like.

          – subjects in school

          – foods

          – The difference between tall, tallER, and tallEST

12:30 -1:30 pm – Lunch prepared by Chandia. It is usually consists of rice, and two other things which can

be any of the following: pineapple and pork, frys,  rice noodles and beef, sausage, greens with pork, fried eggs.

2:00- 3:30 pm – Cassidy and I taught a Lets Go 1 class which was the beginner level class. the children in our Lets Go 1 class were between the ages of 6 and 9, and were learning things such as:

          – I want a ______ and a ________ (food Items)

          – My favorite color is _______

          –  I like ______ (animals)

3:30- 5:00 pm – we would have a pretty good sized break, where we would usually walk and go get more coffee, or play some volley ball (yes, we have a volley ball net in our front yard)

5:00 – 6:00 pm – Cassidy and I taught Headway Beginner, which was a more advanced class full of students between 15 and 22. we taught them things such as

          – how you use ON friday, IN december, AT 8:00

How important context is in reference to understanding surrounding sentences.

The difference between Do, and Does

6:00-7:00 pm – Dinner prepared by Chandia. It is pretty much the same thing as what we had for dinner. rice, and two toppings. the whole time we are eating there are six dogs running a much under the table, and about fifteen ducks trying to sneak into the kitchen. It is always an adventure.

8:00-9:30 pm – Team time/ feedback. by this time was are all so supper tired and ready for bed, so the energy level is always pretty low.

10:00 pm – bed time!! yes yes yes, I know. I am a grandma now.
