Soooooo I prayed during church this morning and asked God what he wanted me to learn during my last week of Nicaragua… and he showed me a picture of him cooking eggs in a frying pan. Hang with me for a second because I had the same thought which was.. I’m sorry, what? I asked him to clear my mind cause sometimes I have an overactive imagination. He gave me the same picture now with the word, yoke. I have never really thought about the word yoke except for I never eat the yoke in eggs because they are gross. I thought I would take a gander to what the ole Bible had to say about yoke. So I went to the back to look up the word and found this verse……

” Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest in your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30

For those of you that view my trip as a big vacation where I do a lot of cool things have a very skewed view of the trip I am on. The World Race is no vacation. I am a full time missionary 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week, I sleep in a tent, and I live in third world countries. I love it, but it is no walk in the park. When you are a missionary people always expect you to have the best attitude and always being willing to work, which we are but rest is really hard to find these days. I can’t just take a nap whenever I want to or rewind by watching Scandal on Netflix like I used to be able to. I do get to do really cool things on my one day off, but other than that we are go go go.

After the word yoke he gave me the word sizzle.. ha definitely not a word in my every day vocab. Any who here are my thoughts on what the big man upstairs is trying to tell me. I’ll take you through my thought process…

The egg won’t sizzle without the yoke.

I won’t sizzle without his yoke.

I won’t give my all to ministry if I don’t rest.

boom.

His picture was him serving me eggs and for me to take his yoke and resting in it. I like to look at it kind of like Jesus serving me breakfast in bed. His yoke is easy and his burden is light so why am I trying to make my burden heavy?

I have started eating the yoke part of the egg now

you should too.
