So this past debrief (Debrief: is our relax/reflecting time in between countries), We stayed on an island off of the Thailand coast called Kohsamet. Living on the resort island for 4 days was an AWESOME way to relax after the heaviness of the Asian counties. We arrived on the island by speed boat, and had to jump out of the boat with our packs into the water to get to the resort. I went snorkeling for the first time, and it was one of the coolest things I have ever done (but watch out for the sea urchins). Getting up early to watch God paint the sunrise, and going to bed with the sound of thunder and rain. It was a good 4 days. Now to put things in perspective… I shared a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, ” Cabin” for lack of a better word, with Dave, and our room came equipped with a ceiling fan, the standard seashell decor (which is sea shells hot glued to the wall), and ants. I only say this to bring to reality that we are still living on a missionary’s budget, even on debrief, because when I say Island resort a very different picture comes to mind than what was true for us. Although on the same island, there were defiantly cabins that cost several hundred dollars a night to stay, ours was only about $ 5.00 per person. However, I will say that our beach was my favorite by far out of all the ones I saw. We didn’t have that much boat traffic, and the sand was perfect!
