BOOM! A loud crashing sound wakes you up in the middle of the night! Taking a deep breath and realizing its thundering outside puts you at ease. You get up and look outside and see a horrendous storm barreling in. As you turn on the T.V., hearing the reports that your city in severe weather watch. Then sirens go off blaring that dreadful sound that a tornado is close by tearing up everything in sight.

You rush and find your family fully awake and then your power goes out. They begin freaking out and start talking over one another. You rush to get the blankets and flashlights then lead your family into the smallest room in the house without windows. Your there comforting them and are praying to the Father. As the vicious storm stirs outside you and your family are close together inside. In this critical moment of disaster there is a intimacy created in your hiding place with the bond of your family.

It is crucial that we seek refuge in God…daily. All throughout scipture it talks about God being a refuge, “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” Deuteronomy 33:27           There is an absolute storm outside (1 Tim 3:1-5) and we need to be firm in our hidden place or we will be swept away. “But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Matthew 7:26-27

We need a devout life in our hidden place listening to Jesus as He builds the foundation. As we grab the necessary tools for our family we need certain things with our relationship with God. We need a bowed and willing heart to accept what His Word teaches and where His Spirit leads. “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” John 14:21

The Lord will show Himself to us if we seek His shelter with all of our hearts (Jer 29:13) and we must remain in Him (John 15:4). He will give you divine clarity while teaching and growing you. He is so deeply involved in our own lives it’s mind blowing (Psalm 139:17-18). However we must know where He is leading us and the best way to do is that is in your hidden place. For where He is leading us, is to impact His Kingdom in a unfathomable way! Let us be intent daily on seek His mighty shelter, pursuing Him for He pursued us with everything…even wearing our sin and death on the cross! There will be an intimacy created unlike any other thing in the world. “Now this is eternal life; that they may KNOW you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” John 17:3

“Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now HIDDEN IN CHRIST in God.” Col 3:2-3
