darcie. twenty two. from dallas. recent tcu grad. studied advertising and spanish. never finished traveling. drinks coffee. pen, paper, people.

I’m passionate about culture, good design, clever communication and relationship-building.
I have a deep, deep love for coffee, written words, stationery, Spanish, fires, bodies of water, hammocks and driving.

Why I’m going on The Race:
The Lord gave me a passion for the globe at age 12. I started going on mission trips to Mexico with my church during the summers, and I’ve had a case of wanderlust ever since. I started travelling my junior year in high school when I broke the seal to Europe. I’ve seized opportunities to study abroad in London and Seville, Spain. Part of my heart is still in Spain, so I guess I’m going to have to go back and get it one of these days.
My passion for ministry started in the summer of 2009. I served at a Young Life camp in Colorado where I got to see community truly work and thrive together for the first time. Although I had trusted Christ at a very young age and grew up thriving in the church, this is when God really set eternity in my heart. After this taste of ministry, I became a Young Life leader in Fort Worth and devoted my summers to being a camp ministry at T Bar M Camp Travis. I feel most alive when I’m involved in hands-on, lets-do-this, spirit-driven ministry.
These two passions started flirting with eachother when I heard about the World Race last year. What seemed like an unattainable, too-good-to-be-true journey has now morphed into a reality. Can you believe it? Because I hardly can! All this to say, I am extremely glad that The World Race is part of the Lord’s perfect plan for me.
Here’s to the good times, trials, adventures, stories, lessons and memories to be had, endured, made, told, learned and savored!
