Top 10 reasons I love Cambodia:

    10) Zack is too big for everything! It is just really funny because Zack is real tall and I love watching him try to fit in places and especially ride a small bicycle.

    9) The food is delicious. I know I have mentioned it before – but I have not eaten anything here so far that I have not enjoyed. My favorite thing so far is the pineapple/watermelon shake I can get at The Blue Pumpkin (you will hear more about this later).

    8) Transportation. You can either take a bicycle (which is really fun), a moto (which is even more fun), or a tuk-tuk. Both a moto and a tuk-tuk are $1 to ride per person and get you where you want to go with no effort on your part!! Who doesn’t love that? Here is a picture of a couple of us girls on a tuk-tuk…

    7) Monks: They are everywhere you go and are all dressed in orange. Because they are monks, they get to do basically everything for free and get free education! And, they are just adorable, happy people who are really searching for God.

    6) Khmer language: My favorite thing is hearing the students sing in Khmer. For some reason, it just cracks me up!! Click here to see a video.

    5) Karaoke: who doesn’t love a little karaoke?!! The best thing about karaoke in Cambodia is the selection of music –it is not the best. And you might get a little confused when you want to sing a Destiny’s Child song … because they will be under the name Denisteny Chile!!

    4) Ice cream: I have found my favorite kind of ice cream here in Siem Reap. It is Oreo flavored from the Lucky Seven or the Lucky Mall! It is only 90¢ for a nice large scoop of it. I probably eat it at least every other day!!

    3) Teaching English: seriously – this has been a blast!! I had the sweetest students these past few weeks. They were so eager to learn and just have the kindest disposition. Anyone would love teaching these students!

    2) The Blue Pumpkin: It is here on Saturday mornings that I find myself each weekend. I sit on a big bean bag with my laptop on a table and skype video chat with my family! I order the Phnom Penh breakfast (which is a ton of food for $4) and then try to see how long I can wait before I order my pineapple/watermelon shake. It is in the downtown area and has great shops all around it – and 1hour massages (next door) for $6.

    1) My favorite thing about this country has got to be the Cambodian people. They truly are just the kindest people with the most beautiful smiles. Even though it gets upwards of 116 degrees (not kidding – definitely clocked it at that the other day)…they are still full of smiles and sweet words. They are just happy people and are happy to serve you and love you. Even though their country has experienced a lot of turmoil in the past – they just keep on smiling and loving. And, they are very open to hearing about the Lord…they want to know Him and want to love Him.

Yesterday was my last day of ministry here in this country and I admit that I am a little sad to move on to another place. I have grown very comfortable here and hope that God would give me an opportunity to come back here someday.
