We arrived in Jacmel, Haiti around 11pm on February 2nd after a roughly 18 hour day of getting up, getting all of our stuff together, and then waiting on our taxi ride to get us to the bus station. The bus ride was fun – because we all got to be together before we were split up around the country of Haiti. Di & I entertained ourselves by watching “Beauty and the Beast” and of course Ellen (she always makes me laugh)!!

Once we arrived in Port-au-Prince, Haiti…we met Lubens (the director of the YWAM base in Jacmel) and drove in a small SUV on probably the bumpiest & windiest road around a mountain I have ever experienced – for 3 hours. We end up in a two story home with some thin mattresses on the floor. The beauty of it all is that we have running water – which means showers…real showers (not bucket showers) and toilets that flush on their own (without you having to pour a bucket of water in them). And when we are really lucky – we get electricity for about 3 hours…just enough time to put a little charge on the things we need to use.

Our ministry this week has been door to door evangelism and an hour long program to introduce the gospel to the crowd who would come to the random field where we were holding our program. We have had a great week of ministry as we have seen probably over 50 salvations! I got to pray with one woman who I invited to our service and it was such a beautiful moment—I don’t ever want to lose the thrill of watching someone come to Christ for the first time!

We are getting ready to do VBS all next week with about 75 kids on the YWAM base here in Jacmel. This place is very safe- that is something I am so thankful for everyday. I cannot wait for you to see the view that we see everyday – it is incredible! God is definitely making Himself known in this dark place. There is a lot of spiritual darkness here, so I ask you to pray against that. People are very into witch doctors and voodoo– it has a major stronghold on the people here!

There is an orphanage at the YWAM base and there are some really cute kids there. My favorite is Andy – he is a six year old boy…but the size of probably a 2 year old. He is adorable and I cannot keep from squeezing him! We have very limited access to the Internet, so forgive me for the lack of contact this month…not sure how often I will get to actually blog or respond to emails.
