My team and I received some information on where and what we will be doing in our first country, Colombia!
We will be staying with a ministry host in a town just outside of Medellin. Our team is the first team to be working with this host, how exciting!
We will be involved in prison ministry and church building! We will also be evangelizing to the community as much as possible and just showing love to those around us.
You might be thinking, ‘Prison ministry?? How do you feel about that?’
So here are my thoughts: This is a season of no comfort zones, as much as that slightly terrifies me, it excites me more. In those times where you don’t have comfort to fall back on, when you don’t know what the heck you’re doing because you have never experienced anything like this, those are the moments you have no other option but for God to show up.
We first got wind of maybe doing a sports ministry, and I was super excited! Sports is something I know very well and something I’m comfortable with. And yet that’s not what this journey is about. I can walk into a sports camp and rely on my skill set and my knowledge of what I have learned over the many years of sports. Yes, God will, and has, used what He has taught me over the years with sports and the skills He has given me, He already has greatly and I am super grateful!!
But when I walk into that prison, I have no comfort zone, no pre-knowledge, and no fear because I know God is with me wherever I go!
So, I’m excited!!
It will be more challenging than I can imagine, but I will be in a place where I can’t rely on myself. These are the places where you have little to offer and He has everything to offer, and you just get to be the vessel of which He shines His light through. I have to rely on my God to take over and to move mountains, and that’s what excites me more than anything!! I will be a witness of His glory day in and day out!
Prayer Request:
That God prepares our hearts for what’s about to happen.
That we would be able to give grace to those we meet and show them love like Jesus would.
That we would walk in with open arms and loving hearts for the Colombians.
For my team and my squad, that we would be united in the body of Christ and know how to love each other well, through the highs and the lows.
That we would be an open vessel for God’s light to shine through!
For courage and tenderness.
