[Align]

A recurring theme while here in CGA has been this idea of alignment.

It’s the reality that what you do in any one area of your life spills into the other areas.

If your spine is not in alignment and your back hurts, there’s no doubt that it will affect you whether you’re sitting at a desk doing work, going outside for a run, or any other activity that you do.

As much as I want to compartmentalize all the different areas of my life and tend to each one individually, the truth of the matter is, I can’t.

You can’t conveniently and selectively ignore an injured body part just because it got injured during a different part of your life.

It carries over.

If I want to live a Christ centered life, then I don’t have the option check a “yes or no to Christ” box in each area of my life. It’s more of a one life, one box kind of thing. I’ve chosen to follow Jesus, and I want that to be true in all areas of my life, and not just an on Sunday thing. It needs to be an every hour, every second, every thought kind of following Jesus.

Each day I experience more and more how much I crave every part of my being to being in alignment with who the Father has created me to be.

Physical. Emotional. Spiritual. Mental. Social. Financial.

These are all separate parts that make up our lives and never intended to be separated or compartmentalized; we are created whole and meant to stay whole and be whole.

I’m in a process of learning to identify the parts of my life that aren’t in alignment to the standard of Christ and learning to bring them into alignment. I’m so blessed to have people in my life who are willing to help me along the journey.

I'd be so lost without Christ in my life because I wouldn't have a standard for what to align myself with.

If I try to find alignment in my own strength, I realize that my standard for what that looks like is awfully inconsistent, due to the my own human tendancy to be influenced by the things in my environment- positive and negative. I'm so thankful that God is unchanging and always consistent in character. What good is a point of reference that keeps on changing?

I find as we individually line ourselves up with Christ, we collectively line up more and more as the body of believers.

And it’s awesome.

When's the last time you looked at the alignment of all areas in your life?
What are you aligning them to?

Thanks for following my journey.
