I’ve been home from the World Race for almost 3 months at this point. Though I still feel homeless at times, I’m at the place I called home before the Race.
The Race has done some work on shaking up my definitions of things like home.
Home isn’t the house where my room mates are.
Home isn’t even the house I grew up in.
Home is wherever Jesus wants me to be: with Him.
And so I write this in my parent’s basement today, doing my best to walk in obedience to where God is calling me to be; trying to remain at home with Him.
This is still a new feeling for me, to not know what’s next.
For about six years prior to going on the World Race, I didn’t really wonder what was next. I was working for Whole Foods in the bakery decorating cakes as my full time job. I lived in community with fantastic housemates and life was stable and comfortable: and I liked it.
I came back to my home town area for two weeks, visited the south for about five weeks, and then back to my home town. [See, I can’t even type ‘home’ and assume people know where I’m talking about because I don’t even know that I can call home a place anymore… so home town will refer to the North Western Suburbs of Chicago.]

And so I feel like I went full circle when I started working my old job again at Whole Foods about three weeks ago.
But, that’s not the point of this update.
I guess I’ve been a little slow about writing a blog post, because that’s when things become official, ya know, only because it ends up on FaceBook too. (It’s ok, I’m rolling my eyes too.)
So…
If I haven’t already told you in person, phone, or via the interwebs…

[What]:
A program called the Center for Global Action (CGA).

What does the CGA offer Apprentices?
The CGA is centered on the idea of holistic development, in which each area is dependent on the other to ensure the apprentice develops to their full kingdom potential. This is accomplished through the combination of community, apprenticeship, and discipleship.
Community. Community is learned through experience and action. In the CGA, apprentices live in a community house with other participants, and learn how community is developed by doing community and serving together. Many foundational principles experienced on the World Race are put into practice as apprentices live out these lessons daily.
Apprenticeship. CGA apprentices serve from 9 am – 12:30 pm in their specified area of interest, earning hands-on experience in their field. Apprentices serve in a department that is the best match between their strengths and available positions at Adventures. While serving, they are able to experience what kingdom living looks like in a work setting while developing skills and standards of excellence and integrity in the workplace.
Discipleship. The goal of the CGA is to help apprentices discover their identity and call in the kingdom of God. Apprentices participate in courses led by facilitators and guest speakers from 2 pm – 5 pm. Apprentices are expected to put these lessons into application during their morning apprenticeship and community living. It’s through this tangible process that apprentices are developed spiritually, socially, and professionally.
[Where]:
Gainsville, Georgia
[When]:
I’ll be moving some time in the middle of January ’13.
[Why]:
In a nutshell, it’s where I feel the Lord is leading me. I want to pursue personal growth and development and feel that a lot of growth happens when you are willing to leave your comfort zone. The World Race put me in situations that I just couldn’t be in while comfortable in my hometown.
After the Race I feel like I’m supposed to spend another season overseas, most probably back to Southeast Asia, and CGA will help me to prepare for that; whenever that may be.
At this point in my life I don’t have a clue what the ‘five year plan’ looks like, but I just want to go where God leads. Right now it’s Georgia.
[How]:
I’m looking for some support again.
I’ve applied, been accepted, and have received a scholarship for 12 months in the CGA program.
Here’s the monthly breakdown, to the best of my knowledge.
I need a minimum of $300 a month in my support account (this goes towards rent, food and gas) and probably another $100 for health insurance.
I’m looking at roughly $4,800 for the year, plus any extra money for miscellaneous expenses.
If you would like to help support me financially you can click on the “support me!” link, the same way of giving while I was on the World Race.

I’ve been so grateful and blessed by so many people to be supported for the World Race in prayer and finances; thank you so much for investing in my life.
I’ll be in Illinois and working at Whole Foods in Wheaton until January. I’d love to chat, answer questions, and catch up with anyone available!
Thank you again for partnering with me.
Peace & Blessings,
Dan²
