Dear Friends & Family,

When your World Racer comes home from the Race, we have more than just stories to tell and global trinkets to share. Over the course of the year, we may have developed some new habits picked up from our previous living conditions. Some things have just become second nature.

Forgive us if…

– we are jet lagged forever and a day
– we keep using countries to define time
– we take forever to decide what to eat. We're not used to choices anymore.
– we greet you in another language
– we thank you in another language
– we feedback you and you're caught off guard
– we get into the car on the driver's side to ride shotgun.
– we wear the same clothes for days without washing
– we leave dirt stains on the furniture from our clothes
– we look for flavors of soda that don't exist here… Black Currant Fanta?
– we are antsy and don't know what to do with all our free time
– we pack a daypack and a laptop when we leave the house
– we freak out because we can actually be alone
– we lock the bedroom to avoid theft
– we have bracelets from every country, and the stench to prove it
– we try to pay in Kwacha, Baht, Limpiras, or whatever we have in our wallets
– we compare everything to another country
– we put hot sauce on everything
– we eat left overs from strangers plates in restaurants
– we ask if food is team or personal
– we forget that we can leave the house alone
– we leave public bathrooms with toilet paper
– we arrive on Africa time (2-8 hours late)
– we tear up when we see brewed coffee

– we cry because we finally have a bed
– we can't stop showering because we missed showers all together
– we threw toilet paper in the trash
– we don't remember how to wear nice clothes
– we hand wash laundry in the bathtub
– we think Chacos are acceptable dress shoes
– we come to church and have our own pocket sermon, just in case
– we watch Animal Planet and it makes us hungry
– we can't shut up about how clean we just got our feet.

[This is what Africa did to us.]

and…

WE CAN'T STOP TALKING ABOUT B-SQUAD!

Happy Homecoming B-Squad!

I love you all!
