Whats more important, to serve God or be served by God?

God closed the doors of service for me in order so I could learn a very important lesson… Being served by God is more important! Don’t get me wrong, what we do is very important but it doesn’t even compare to what Jesus has done for us!

God opened my eyes and showed me that I was trying to work for something that I could never earn because it was THE GIFT freely given to me. Our blood, sweat, and tears didn’t pay our ransom. It was Jesus who paid the ultimate price. You see, we shouldn’t be working for our salvation but serve because we are saved! God showed me that I was trying to change, grow, and be good for His love not because of His perfect love.

Without intimacy with the Lord our service can be fruitless and we will run dry. Over these past four months God has been teaching me to be still, listen, receive, and soak in His presence. This wasn’t easy for me in the slightest. I am a server and good at doing not waiting. But like all things in life, in order to grow and be good at something we have to practice, this is the same with hearing the voice of the Lord!

The Lord’s plan of bringing be home to Colorado, was much better than any plan I could have had. Now that I have learned to be served by God He is allowing me to serve again! He has opened a door for me by telling the Director of an Urban Ministry in Denver to create a position for me as the Assistant Director of a safe home for women who were trafficked and or getting out of the sex industry. Not only did God open a door for me to fight for lost and broken women but He opened two more doors for women to serve as the Assistant Directors in two other women safe homes (one for women and children escaping domestic violence and the other for homeless women struggling with drugs and alcohol addictions). God is so good!

We help all the women in the safe homes get a job or receive an education. Each woman receives counseling on a weekly basis. Mentoring and discipleship are key factors in the homes. Their faith is growing and their lives are being turned around. What a beautiful sight. I will be living in the safe home in order to model holistic health and live along side of the residents. These women have many walls and trust issues, for they have been abused by the majority of the people in their lives. I face many challenges but I am not alone, God is with me and has been preparing me for these very women and for that I am incredibly grateful. Wow, He is allowing me to be a part of their stories! What a blessing!
