Saying goodbye is rarely easy. I knew coming on the race I would have to say goodbye to people I’ve grown to love each month. I knew there would be the possibility of team changes. I have come to learn that rather than each goodbye becoming easier they are getting harder and harder. You would think I would be getting used to packing up and leaving by now, I mean it has been 8 months. But no it is quite the opposite. I was reflecting on why this is so. God has been doing a lot growth in me and changing my heart. He has been showing me how to truly love well. The more I love the greater the bond.

Leaving Mongolia was by far the hardest goodbye on the race thus far. I absolutely loved the country and the culture but most of all the people. A month that started off really rough ended up being the best month for me on the race. God took me out of my “dream ministry” at the foster home. The precious babies were replaced with dirt, cement, and iron rods. God’s love was overflowing in the family we were building churches with. I was filled with so much joy working with Bogi and his family. I felt at home. I wish our time with them was longer. Leaving them filled me with the same emotions as when I left my family at home.

The change of country was accompanied with a change of teams. I am now in Phuket, Thailand with my new team. I am with all new people and am on my first all girls team. It is strange not being with people I have been with every day for the past 7 months. We have poured into one another, grown together, cried together, laughed together, the list goes on and on. I will miss team Relentless but I am excited for the change of seasons with Team Logos.

My new team is filled with strong women of God. Our team name is Logos meaning the Word. We all share a burning passion to learn and for the gospel. I am so thankful for the opportunity to go deeper in scripture together. We are working with a couple, Dana and Cindy, from California who have been living in and pouring their hearts into the community of Phuket for the past six years. We are helping paint the church they planted. Cindy teaches English at two local schools which we have been assisting her in; we help Dana with lawn care in the neighborhood. God has placed many things on our hearts to do while we are here. I am excited for what He has in store. When there is change in the air, don’t run from it, embrace it!

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
